While companies like Samsung and Xiaomi are waiting for the new year to launch new smartphones in the Indian smartphone market, Lenovo is continuing to launch new smartphones in the country. After launching the Lenovo K6 Power, the Lenovo-owned Motorola has launched the Moto M in India now.

The Moto M is the first mid-range phone from Motorola to feature a metal build. Sitting above the Moto G4 Plus, the Moto M is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P15 chipset and features a stylish design that sets it apart from the competition. A) The full specs of the Moto M are as follows:

Q) Is the battery of the handset removable?

A) No, since the Moto M features a unibody aluminium build, the battery and the back cover are not removable.

Q) Is the Moto M water-resistant?

A) No, the Moto M is not water-resistant. The handset is splash-proof thanks to a water-repellent nanocoating, but it’s not waterproof.

Q) What kind of SIM card slot does the phone have? Can I use two SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time?

A) The Moto M features a hybrid SIM card slot. This means that you can either 1 SIM card and microSD card or 2 SIM cards at any given time. Both SIM card slots accept nanoSIM cards.

Q) Is the display on the Moto M protected by Gorilla Glass?

A) The 5.5-inch display of the Moto M is not protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass. It is a strengthened glass that is less prone to scratches, but it is not Gorilla Glass.

Q) Where is the fingerprint scanner on the Moto M located? Is it touch based?

A) The fingerprint scanner on the Moto M is located at the rear, and yes, it is touch based.

Q) How many fingerprints can one register on the Moto M?

A) 5.

Q) Does the Moto M feature native fingerprint app locking functionality?

A) No, the Moto M does not feature native fingerprint app locking functionality. However, since the phone runs on Marshmallow, you can easily use third-party apps to get similar functionality.

Q) Can you record slow-motion videos on the Moto M?

A) Yes, you can.

Q) Which version of Android does the handset run on?

A) Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Q) Will the Moto M get the Android 7.0 Nougat update?

A) Yes, the Moto M will be upgraded to Nougat by Motorola. However, the company is yet to provide a timeframe on when the update will be available for the device.

Q) Does the Moto M support LTE and VoLTe networks? Will a Reliance Jio SIM work on the phone?

A) Yes, it does support LTE and VoLTE out of the box. Unlike many other phones, the handset will also work with a Reliance Jio SIM out of the box. The Moto M also supports Band 5, which will be used by many Indian operators in the future.

Q) Is Quick charging supported on the Moto M?

A) Yes, it does. Motorola also bundles a 2A @ 5v charger with the phone.

Q) How much free storage space does theMoto M has out of the box?

A) Almost 24GB out of the box.

Q) Can you uninstall or disable pre-installed apps on the handset?

A) The Moto M does not come with any pre-installed apps that can be termed as bloatware.

Q) What contents do you get inside the retail box of the Moto M?

A) You get the phone, a 2A charger, a USB Type-C cable, SIM ejector tool, wired earphones, back cover, and some regulatory papers.

Q) Does the handset support USB OTG?

A) Yes, the Moto M supports USB On-The-Go. This allows you to directly connect pen drives, external hard disks and more using an adapter to the device. However, since the phone comes with a USB Type-C port you will have to use a compatible USB OTG adapter.

Q) When does the Moto M go on sale and where?
