Moto G2 purportedly revealed in leaked image, some specs detailed

Given the immense success of the Moto G, it was always expected that Motorola would launch a successor at some point in time. Respectable specs matched with an impressively low price made the phone one of the best budget smartphones when it launched, and according to a new leak, Motorola will be sticking to the same recipe with the second-generation Moto G.

According to Mallando Android, the sequel to the Moto G carries the model number 1068XT and is called the Moto G 2nd generation, though it will likely be called something along the lines of Moto G2 (or Moto G+1, like the Moto X sequel?) upon launch. From the picture, the phone seems to be quite similar to the Moto G (and other recent Motorola phones) in aesthetics but with a few changes, such as what looks like the camera module being on the right side of the speaker grill.

When it comes to specs, it is said the Moto G2 will keep the 720p display, quad-core Snapdragon processor with the Adreno 305 GPU, and dual SIM slots, but bump the megapixel count on the camera to 8-megapixel. As for pricing, nothing is known, though it wouldn’t be at all surprising if Motorola launches the Moto G2 for a price lower than the $179 price tag of the original.

What are your thoughts on the Moto G2, based on what you’re seeing in the leaked image and the scarce hardware details?
