Meerkat, the live-streaming application that has quickly become popular on iOS, is now available on Android as a public beta. Interested parties can download and install the APK manually right now.
Meerkat confirmed its service would be available on Android several weeks ago, and now those who simply cannot wait to try it out have a public beta to play around with. To gain access to it, you will first need to sign up via this Google form.
If you are accepted as a tester, you’ll get access to the beta Meerkat APK, which you’ll be able to manually install on your Android device. To do so, be sure you have enabled installs from “unknown sources” within the security settings on your device.
It’s unclear how stable the application is right now — Meerkat wouldn’t tell Mashable when they requested more information — but given its beta status, it’s not going to be completely perfect. That doesn’t mean it isn’t worth trying out, however.
Meerkat hasn’t confirmed whether it will limit the number of beta testers, but for now at least, it is still accepting sign up requests, so get in while you can.
