It has been two years since LG officially announced its own mobile payment option, LG Pay, and a little over a year since it launched in South Korea.

But the payment option has yet to make its debut in the United States. That will finally be changing, though, as Yonhap News has confirmed that LG Pay will launch in this neck of the woods sometime in the first half of 2018. If that is the case, then the mobile payment option will be available for some LG-branded smartphones by June.

LG Pay works in a similar fashion to Samsung Pay, in that it uses Wireless Magnetic Communication. So, in the same way that Samsung Pay will let you pay at any terminal, even if it doesn’t support NFC payments, LG Pay will, too. That should help it stand out in the crowded market, and give it a chance to pick up customers.

The report indicates that LG will have LG Pay ready to go in the United States by the time the “LG G7” launches, and it will definitely be live by the time the Life’s Good crew launches the “LG V40” later this year. No dates to circle on the calendar just yet, but if you are a fan of LG, already plan on picking up the company’s newest flagship(s) this year, then you’ll have a new mobile payment option to try out, too.

Do you plan on using LG Pay when it becomes available, or are you already using a mobile payment option you won’t switch away from?
