If sources of Korea Herald are to be believed, LG’s upcoming Android Wear smartwatch, the G Watch, is expected to come with HomeChat — a service that would allow users to control their smart appliances from LG right from the watch itself.

LG had initially unveiled its HomeChat service back in April allowing users to control their smart appliances via the mobile messaging app Line — after the appliance was registered with them.

It is not yet clear as to how LG’s HomeChat service will allow users to control their smart appliances from the G Watch. “Industry watchers” suggest that LG would be using its own voice recognition technology — Q Voice — to allow users to control the appliances from their voice.

Whether Google would allow OEMs to personalize Android Wear smartwatches to their liking or not is not yet known. However, since resources are already at a premium on a smartwatch, the above rumor might seem a bit too far fetched. It is also possible that LG’s HomeChat service would make use of the APIs provided by Android Wear itself to talk to other smart appliances from LG.

Whatever the case may be, the possibility of controlling other appliances in your home using your smartwatch definitely sounds exciting to me.
