LG today announced its brand new G Stylo phablet, a 5.7-inch device that provides smartphone shoppers with another more affordable alternative to Samsung’s premium Galaxy Note series.

The G Stylo has a built-in stylus, just like the Galaxy Note, but its 720p (1280×720) IPS In-Cell Touch display isn’t as sharp as Samsung’s latest Quad HD offering, with just 258 pixels-per-inch. The device is also powered by a much more modest Snapdragon 410 processor.

Other internals include 1.5GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, 8GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, and a giant 3,000mAh battery that should provide decent battery life.

The G Style measures 154.3mm tall, 79.2mm wide, and 9.6mm thick, and it weighs 163 grams. It’s also powered by LG’s latest Android 5.0 Lollipop software.

While the G Stylo may not be quite as exciting as high-end phablets, it still has fairly decent specifications that should make it an ideal super-sized smartphone for buyers on a budget.

LG will launch the device in its native South Korea initially, but the company says the G Stylo will progressively rollout to “major overseas regions” starting on May 5.
