Latest OxygenOS Beta for OnePlus 3/3T Brings Ambient Display 2.0, New OnePlus Font, and More

OnePlus today started the rollout of OxygenOS Open Beta 17/18 for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The latest beta brings about a number of new features and enhancements along with the May Android Security patch level.

Among the new features, OnePlus is introducing Ambient display 2.0 with the latest OxygenOS beta. To activate the new Ambient display, one needs to “double tap” the screen after taking it out from their pocket. There is also a new Lift up display feature which automatically turns the display on when you pick the phone up so that you can peek at notifications.

A new OnePlus font is also a part of the update, though it is only available in English, Chinese, and Japanese languages for now. OnePlus also notes that third-party apps will now load faster on the latest OxygenOS beta.

Other system apps like Gallery, Recorder, Weather, and File Manager have also received UI improvements.

  • Optimizations:
    • Enhanced launching speed of 3rd-party apps
    • Optimized management of foreground and background processes
  • Other changes:
    • Setup wizard adjusted to suit the style of Android 7.1
    • Refined contact import process from SIM card, now supports dual numbers and an email address
    • Automatically add corresponding country codes when making calls during roaming
    • Updated Android Security Patch level to 1st May 2017

If you are not already running the latest OxygenOS beta on your OnePlus 3/3T, you can download it from here and manually sideload it on your handset. And if you are already on OxygenOS beta, you will automatically receive an OTA update to the latest beta.
