Not content with selling well over 100 million smartphones this year, Huawei is aiming to ship at least 120 million handsets in 2016. As per a source from the supply chain of the company, Huawei is looking to ramp up its production capacity to ship 120 million smartphones in 2016.

2015 was a fantastic year for Huawei that saw it creating a name for itself in the global smartphone market. Despite the slowing smartphone sales in most markets of the world, Huawei’s smartphone shipments increased from 75 million in 2014 to a staggering 108 million in 2015 — an increase of over 44 percent on a YoY basis. The company currently ranks right behind Samsung and Apple in terms of the largest smartphone maker of the world and ahead of Xiaomi, Lenovo/Motorola, and LG.

The source also notes that the launch of the Nexus 6P has helped in raising the value of Huawei’s brand image among consumers, especially in Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany and Portugal.

To further bolster its sales in 2016, Huawei will focus on expanding its lineup of P and Mate series of smartphones. The company also recently launched its budget Honor brand in the United States with the launch of the Honor 5X for $199, which should help it in creating a name for itself in the largest smartphone market of the world.
