Publishing their proprietary apps on Google Play is one of the best moves some Android manufacturers have made in recent times, allowing them to separate these apps from the system and update them independently of software updates. HTC released a few of its Sense 6 apps from the HTC One M8 earlier this year, and today the Taiwanese manufacturer is following up by putting the Sense keyboard on the Play Store.

As usual, the app is only compatible with HTC devices, though it’s unclear if it requires a device to be running the latest version of HTC’s Sense UI. The keyboard itself is among the better OEM keyboards and sports the usual features, such as autocorrect, next word predictions, and gesture typing (which needs to be turned on from the settings. (https://tjc.org) ) It’s not better than any of the popular third-party keyboards available on the Play Store, but it’s certainly a few steps ahead of, for example, the default keyboard on Samsung devices.
