Facebook for Android

While many Google-branded applications have crossed the 1 billion installs milestone before Facebook, the reason why the social networking giant gets a hat tip in their direction is actually because they aren’t a Google company, or an apps created by the search giant.

As reported by Android Police, this marks the first application within the Google Play Store that has crossed the 1 billion installs threshold that isn’t an app made by Google. Those aforementioned Google apps that have crossed the milestone? Things like YouTube, Maps, Gmail, and Google Play Services. And yes, those are all pre-loaded on an Android device.

But Facebook has actually started to outpace other Google apps, including Hangouts and Chrome. And, apparently, Google Search — which just seems wrong (on so many levels).

While Facebook has undergone plenty of changes recently, especially with a move to remove the Messenger app from within the standalone Facebook app, it looks like that’s not slowing them down in the slightest.

Do you use Facebook’s app?
