Up until now, we have had AOSP based KitKat ROMs pop-up for all the Nexus devices. Today, joining them for some KitKat love is the HTC One.

Stephen Bird a.k.a Birdman has released the first fully working AOSP based Android 4.4 KitKat ROM for the GSM variant of the HTC One. The ROM uses the binaries from Android 4.3 update for One, but works flawlessly. The only hardware feature that is not working on the One is the IR Blaster.

Until and unless HTC releases the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the GPe edition of the One, chances of the IR blaster working are bleak. The download link and flashing instructions can be found on this thread at RootzWiki forums. The current build works on the AT&T variant of the One, with builds for the International, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon variants coming soon.

Since this is an AOSP based ROM, there might be some instability issues. If you are looking for a more stable KitKat ROM, I’d suggest you to wait for a few days until the official KitKat update for GPe HTC One is available.

Update: Download link for T-Mobile variant.
