AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Sprint Comment on Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Recall

With Samsung officially calling for a global recall of the company’s latest flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 7, the major wireless carriers in the United States are chiming in.

With a recall of this size, which encompasses not only Samsung, but also the carrier launch partners and customers who purchased the device, steps have to be taken to make sure customers have the easiest possible means to either exchange or return their Galaxy Note 7. The major wireless carriers in the United States have officially responded to Samsung’s recall, with many offering up an immediate fix:

  • AT&T: The Big Blue carrier says that it is still evaluating its plans for exchanges with the Galaxy Note 7, and will have more to talk about “soon.”
  • Verizon: The Big Red network says that it will offer an exchange or refund, and that it is waiving restocking fees for this until September 30.
  • Sprint: The Now Network has confirmed that it will be offering customers a “similar device” to use until Samsung fixes the situations. What that device is, however, remains to be announced. If a Sprint customer would like to make the exchange happen, they’ll need to head into a Sprint store.
  • T-Mobile: The Un-carrier has said it will be offering full refunds on the Galaxy Note 7, along with any accessories that customers purchased for the phablet. The network will also be waiving restocking fees and shipping costs.

It’s good to see the carriers trying to make the transition as easy as possible.
