Asus recently unveiled the ZenFone Max Pro M1 in India. While Asus has previously launched numerous ZenFone handsets in India, the Max Pro M1 is special because of attractive price-to-performance ratio. The handset easily gives tough competition to the current reigning budget mid-range handset in India, the Redmi Note 5 Pro in every major department.

Q) What are the full specifications of the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1? 

A) The full specs of the handset are as follows:

Q) Is the battery of the handset removable?

A) No, since the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 features a unibody aluminum build, the battery and back cover is not removable.

Q) What kind of SIM card slot does the phone have? Can I use two SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time?

A) The ZenFone Max Pro M1 features a dedicated microSD and SIM card slot. This means you can use 2 SIM cards and a microSD card on the phone at the same time.

Q) How is the camera performance of the ZenFone Max Pro M1 compared to Redmi Note 5 Pro?

A) The ZenFone Max Pro’s camera quality is considerably inferior to that of the Redmi Note 5 Pro. This is despite Asus rolling out multiple software updates to improve the camera performance of the device. The camera sensor of the handset is clearly inferior to that of the Redmi Note 5 Pro so there’s only so much that Asus can do in terms of improvement via software updates.

Q) Is there an IR blaster on the ZenFone Max Pro M1?

A) No, an IR blaster is missing from the device.

Q) Do you get face unlock on the handset?

A) Yes, Asus offers face unlock on the Zenfone Max Pro M1.

Q) Can one record calls on the handset?

A) Not natively. You will have to download and make use of a third-party application from the Play Store for this.

Q) Does the ZenFone Max Pro M1 feature FM radio?

A) Yes, it has FM radio.

Q) Is the display on the ZenFone Max Pro M1 protected by Gorilla Glass?

A) No, the 5.99-inch display is not protected by Gorilla Glass. It does, however, feature a 2.5D curved glass.

A) Yes, you can. But you will have to download a third-party application from the Play Store for this.

A) No. But the ZenFone can record 4K videos.

Q) Is there a notification LED on the handset?

A) No, the ZenFone Max lacks a notification LED.

A) Yes, you can directly make video calls on the handset without using an app like Google Duo or Skype.

Q) Which version of Android does the handset run on?

A) It runs on a stock build of Android 8.1 Oreo.

Q) Does the ZenFone Max Pro M1 support LTE and VoLTe networks? Will a Reliance Jio SIM work on the phone?

A) Yes, it does support LTE and VoLTE out of the box.

Q) Is there dual VoLTE support?

A) Yes, you can use two VoLTE SIM cards at the same time on the Zenfone Max Pro M1. It is among the handful of phones available in India right now with this feature.

Q) What about VoLTE support on AirTel’s network?

A) There’s no mention about VoLTE support on AirTel’s network but that should be added to the handset with a future software update.

Q) Does the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 support fast charging? 

A) Yes. It has 5V/2A fast charging support.

Q) How much free storage space does one get on the ZenFone Max out of the box?

A) Almost 23GB out of the box, while the 64GB has 54GB of free space

Q) Can you uninstall or disable pre-installed apps on the handset?

A) The ZenFone Max Pro M1 hardly comes with bloatware pre-installed. Nonetheless, you can uninstall a few preloaded system apps.

A) The handset will be available in Black and Grey colors.

A) Almost two months after its release, Asus has put the 6GB RAM variant of ZenFone Max Pro M1 for sale on Flipkart. However, the handset seems to be in short supply as it is almost always listed as being temporarily unavailable.
