After quite a few leaks, Asus today unveiled its ZenFone 4 series of handsets. The new ZenFone 4 lineup consists of six phones: the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 4 Selfie, ZenFone 4 Max followed by the Pro variants of these three handsets.

While all the phones cater to a different price band and range of customers, they all have one feature in common: they feature a dual-camera setup at the rear.

ZenFone 4 Pro

The ZenFone 4 Pro features a glossy finish at the back with a metal chassis sandwiched by the glass panel at the front and back. Asus has used 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass at the front and back of the device. It is powered by a Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB RAM, and features a 3600mAH battery. There’s also a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display at the front of the device, with the fingerprint scanner located right below it.

The rear of the ZenFone 4 Pro features a 12MP dual-camera setup. The Sony IMX362 sensor features large 1.4um pixels and is paired with a f/1.7 aperture lens and 4-axis OIS. There is also a 2nd gen laserAF sensor for improved AF in low-light along with Dual-Pixel AF. The secondary 12MP camera features a Sony IMX351 sensor with an f/2.6 aperture and offers 2x optical zoom. Overall though, it offers up to 10x digital zoom, though it is a given that at such zoom levels, the photo quality is going to be downright miserable.

There is an 8MP f/1.9 aperture selfie shooter at the front featuring an 88-degree wide angle lens, 1.4um large pixels, and PDAF.

Other specs of the ZenFone 4 Pro include 802.11ad WiGig connectivity, dual speakers, hybrid microSD card slot, and tri-mic noise cancellation. The ZenFone 4 Pro is priced at $599.

ZenFone 4

The non-Pro regular ZenFone 4 comes in two different variants. The first variant features a Snapdragon 630 chipset and is available with up to 4GB RAM, while the second variant features up to 6GB RAM and comes with a Snapdragon 660 chipset. Other specs of the handset remain the same as the ZenFone 4 Pro, though the 5.5-inch AMOLED display at the front is replaced with an LCD panel. Other areas of the handset have also received a downgrade and it comes with a 3300mAh battery, single speaker, and dual-mic noise cancellation.

The dual-camera setup at the rear has also received a downgrade. While the primary 12MP shooter remains the same 12MP Sony IMX362, it now features an f/1.8 aperture. This is paired with a secondary 8MP OmniVision f/2.2 sensor featuring a massive 120-degree wide angle lens which allows the handset to take wide angle shots similar to that of the LG G6 and V20. The ZenFone 4 is priced at $399.

ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro

As the name suggests, the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro is aimed at selfie enthusiasts. It features a dual camera setup at the rear and comes with a unibody aluminum design.

Powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 chipset, the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro features 4GB RAM and up to 64GB of storage. It also comes with a hybrid microSD card slot and a 3000mAh battery. There is also a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED display at the front of the device.

The dual-camera setup on the front of the Selfie Pro has been combined to output 24MP selfies. The primary sensor is Sony’s 1.4um IMX362 sensor, while the secondary sensor makes use of OmniVision’s 5MP f/2.2 sensor. It can also record videos in 4K resolution from the front camera.

As for the rear camera, it makes use of Sony’s IMX351 sensor with an f/2.2 aperture.

ZenFone 4

Then there’s the ZenFone 4 featuring a metallic design. It comes with a 5.5-inch 720p IPS LCD display, 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. The dual-camera setup at the front features a 20MP f/2.0 OmniVision sensor, while the secondary 120-degree wide angle shooter is an 8MP f/2.4 shooter.

The 16MP rear shooter features an f/2.0 aperture, with the sensor again being sourced from OmniVision. The ZenFone 4 Selfie is priced at $279.

ZenFone 4 Max and ZenFone 4 Max Pro

Finally, there are the ZenFone 4 Max and Max Pro. The handsets are powered by a Snapdragon 425 or Snapdragon 430 chipset and feature a 5.5-inch Full HD display. They will be available in multiple RAM configurations, with the top model topping out at 4GB RAM.

The ZenFone 4 Max has dual-13MP shooters at the rear, while the ZenFone 4 Max Pro features a 16MP rear shooter.

All the handsets unveiled by Asus today will be running on ZenUI 4.0 based on Android Nougat. Asus has promised to update its ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 3 series of handsets to Android O as well. Asus will be launching its ZenFone 4 series of handsets in Asia first followed by a launch in other markets of the world.
