Asus today launched an updated version of the ZenFone Max in India. The updated handset still boasts of a massive 5,000mAh battery, but this time around it is powered by Qualcomm’s more powerful Snapdragon 615 chipset.
For comparison, the previous ZenFone Max was powered by a Snapdragon 410 chipset.
Other notable specs of the handset include 2/3GB RAM, 32GB of storage space, microSD card slot, and a 5.5-inch 720p IPS LCD. The phone packs the same camera specifications as its predecessor: a 13MP rear shooter with an F/2.0 aperture and a wide-angle 5MP front shooter. The 10.55mm thick phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box with Asus’ ZenUI on top of it. Responding to user feedback, Asus has reduced the number of bloatware that it ships on the handsets.
The ZenFone Max will be available in three different colors: black, orange, and blue. The 2GB RAM variant of the handset has been priced at Rs. 9,999, while the 3GB RAM variant will retail for Rs. 12,999. Both variants are already up for pre-order on Amazon India.
While the ZenFone Max packs in decent specs and a beefy battery, it lacks many features that have become a commonplace in phones of this price range, including a fingerprint scanner, Full HD screen, and a full metal body.
