Amazon today unveiled the next-generation of Fire 7, its best-selling tablet, and Fire HD 8 tablets with improved displays, slimmer design, and better battery life.

The Fire 7 is Amazon’s cheapest tablet yet and now comes with a thinner and lighter design. It now also comes with an improved 7-inch IPS display that offers higher contrast levels and sharpness. Along with the Fire 7, Amazon is also updating its Fire HD 8 tablet. Featuring an 8-inch 1280*800 display, the new Fire HD 8 offers up to 12 hours of battery life, 16GB of storage, dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity, a quad-core processor, and up to 12 hours of battery life.

The new Fire HD 8 is now priced at $79.99, while the Fire 7 continues to be priced at $49.99. Both tablets are more durable than the iPad as measured in tumble tests. They also come with Alexa integration, X-Ray, Second Screen, Family Library, Screen Sharing, and more.

The new Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 tablets go on pre-order starting from today and will start shipping from June 7. They will be available in Black, Punch Red, Marine Blue, and Canary Yellow colors.
