Rumors about Amazon working on unveiling its first smartphone later this year have been picking up steam lately. Last month, details about the specs and the 3D interface surfaced online along with an image of the handset covered in a protective shell.

Now, the folks over at BGR have managed to get their hands on a computer generated image of Amazon’s upcoming smartphone, which is apparently being used by the company for internal purposes. 

The back of the Amazon’s smartphone instantly reminds me of the Nexus 4, which had a glass back that could break easily. The front looks inspired from the iPhone, especially with that dedicated physical home button. While the phone does sport some hefty bezels, BGR sources tell them that Amazon plans on making the phone easy to use for one-handed operation via its unique gesture controlled and 3D interface.

The first smartphone from Amazon is rumoured to sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, 2GB of RAM, a 4.7-inch 720p display and six cameras for the unique 3D interface of the phone. It will run a heavily modified version of Android and come with access to Amazon’s AppStore. The key selling point of the phone, however, would be Prime Data. Apparently, the handset is going to launch exclusively on AT&T where Prime Data will allow users to watch a pre-defined amount of Amazon Prime music and videos absolutely free of charge.
