OnePlus One

Following months of hype from OnePlus, the company announced its first smartphone, the One, on April 23rd 2014. Under the slogan “Never Settle”, OnePlus positioned its One as a flagship killer, with fantastic specs at a very affordable price.

The OnePlus One packs a 5.5″ 1080p screen, a top of the line Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, stereo speakers, a 13MP Sony IMX214 sensor on the back with a front-facing 5MP camera. It comes in two configurations: a white 16GB version for $299 and a black 64GB one for $349. Replaceable back covers were also announced in various finishes, including wood, kevlar, bamboo and denim.

The OnePlus One’s significant feature, however, is the fact that it ships with CyanogenMod 11S out of the box, an AOSP-based Android ROM with a few modifications including a theme engine, multiple additions and improvements, an always-listening mode for Google Now, and the ability to launch specific apps by drawing gestures on the screen while the device is off.
