Yahoo used its CES 2014 presentation to take the wraps off its new Yahoo Food site, its Yahoo Tech news sites and some smaller news in the mobile app arena. Of interest to Android owners is the announcement that Yahoo is acquiring Android homescreen app Aviate.Aviate, if you recall, is an intelligent home screen app that organizes apps and presents them to Android users based on how they are using their phone. If someone is driving, for example, Aviate would offer up the navigation apps to a user. Aviate learns from a users and improves its recommendations over time.

The company plans to integrate Aviate into its Android apps in 2014. To celebrate its acquisition, Yahoo is opening up Aviate to 25,000 new beta testers. Just download the app from the Google Play Store and use “YAHOO” as a reservation code.
