Sony Xperia Z3 leak

The Sony Xperia Z3 has seen quite a bit of attention recently, starting with a purported image that showcased its front panel in white. Then, a few days later, the specifications for the Compact version of the Z3 broke cover, piquing interest of those looking forward to that particular handset. Now, on July 11, we get to see what’s being reported as the first look at the device out in the wild, as a whole unit.

The Xperia Z2 was unveiled in February of 2014, but that doesn’t mean Sony can’t have a successor already planned for the pipeline later in the year. That’s where the Z3 comes in, a device that’s been heavily rumored over the last few weeks, and which seems to be getting closer to launch, if the details of leaks and rumors are to be believed.

Sony Xperia Z3 Android version

The most recent leak comes from XperiaBlog, and puts the focus right on the handset this time around, checking it out in the wild and in a full piece of kit. In the images, of which there are more you can check out through the source link below, we’re supposedly looking at the device with a model number L55t, which is said to be headed to China at some point later this year.

From what we can see in the images, the Xperia Z3 is running Android 4.4.4 KitKat right out of the box — but that doesn’t mean it still can’t launch after Google officially releases Android L out into the wild, mind you. We also get confirmation that the Xperia Z3, or at least whatever this device is, will be using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 801 processor under the hood, which is a quad-core chipset clocked at 2.5GHz and features Adreno 330 graphics.

Sony Xperia Z3 in the wild

As it stands, not a lot to go on, but it would appear that the handset is getting closer to a launch. Are we looking at a global rollout for Somy’s upcoming handset, or will this be another device that only sees specific market releases? Hopefully we find out soon.
