With all the talk of metal vs plastic, we’re seeing an increasing number of manufacturers leaning towards premium metal devices. And Sony could be the newest addition to the list according to a new report which suggests that the Xperia Z3 could come with an all metal frame combined with PVD coating for extra durability and corrosion resistance.

The leak comes with two images which reveal the metal frame from the sides. It is clear that Sony is looking to make its upcoming flagship substantially superior than the current model in order to remain competitive in the market.

The leak has also spilled the beans on the hardware of the smartphone with some bad news in tow. Despite launching in August this year, the Xperia Z3 won’t feature a 2K resolution display apparently, as Sony will stick with the 1080p display for the fourth flagship in a row since the Xperia Z.

Other specs of the smartphone include a 2.7 GHz quad core Snapdragon 805 chipset using Krait 450 cores, 3GB of RAM and the same 20.7-megapixel Exmor RS sensor from the Xperia Z2. It could be a deal breaker for Sony to not include a QHD panel on the Xperia Z3 as most rivals in the market like the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, the LG G3 and the HTC One M8 Prime are expected to sport the display.
