Sony Xperia T3

Only yesterday did we come across Sony’s teaser which hinted at the arrival of the “next big thing”. And just under 24 hours from that teaser, the company has made the smartphone official. Unlike our speculations of it being the successor to the Xperia Z Ultra, this handset will be known as the Xperia T3 and is set to be a midrange smartphone sporting very capable hardware.

The Xperia T3 will be packing a 5.3 inch 720p Triluminos display, a 1.4 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 SoC, an 8-megapixel camera on the back, 8GB of internal storage, 1GB of RAM, a 2,500 mAh battery and Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

It is said that the manufacturer has paid close attention to the camera of the smartphone, which despite being an 8-megapixel sensor is capable of capturing better than average images.

The Xperia T3 features a very slender form factor by being only 7mm thick, thus making it one of the thinnest smartphones in the segment today. There are no details on the pricing at the moment, but Sony is expected to launch the device in key markets by the end of July.

Going by yesterday’s teaser, we initially thought this would be the successor of last year’s Xperia Z Ultra, but that’s clearly not the case. However, we can’t rule out the launch of the Xperia Z2 Ultra sometime later this month considering that it belongs to a different segment altogether.
