The Xperia Z and its successor – the Z1 – have quite a few similarities including the same design language and the same software features and UI, apart from the camera. The Z1 camera app has quite a few trick up its sleeves, which its predecessor lacks like Social cast, Timeshift mode and more. 

Now, XDA Recognized Developer, krabappel2548, has ported the Z1’s camera app with all its new features to the Z.

Below are all the features that works on the Xperia Z without any issues -:

– Info Eye
– Augmented Reality effects
– Timeshift mode
– Manual Mode
– Social Cast mode
– Automatic mode

The camera app also includes updated libs and system files from the Z1, which should theoretically help in improving the image quality as well. The installation process requires your Z to be rooted with a custom recovery installed, though.

Also, make sure to follow the installation instructions as mentioned by the developer, otherwise the app will continuously Force Close for you. There is also an alternative installation method posted by the developer, in case the automated zip file does not work for you.
