Sony’s new tweet has just sparked off rumors of a potential Xperia Z Ultra successor arriving in the coming days. The tweet reads – “Shh… do you want to know a secret? Stay tuned for the next big thing this season.” Given that the main flagship i.e. the Xperia Z2 was announced merely a couple of months ago, it’s safe to assume that Sony is talking about the Z Ultra successor here.

The smartphone from last year was popular for being one of the largest devices at the time along with the Samsung Galaxy Mega. And if history is any indication, the Xperia Z Ultra 2 or the Xperia Z2 Ultra could feature a bigger display and an even beefier hardware specs sheet.

To make things even more interesting, Sony has shown off the side profile of the smartphone, hinting at a slender form factor. The iconic set of hardware keys is present here as well, which almost confirms that this is indeed the new Xperia Z Ultra.

Considering that last year’s iteration was launched somewhere around June, it’s safe to assume that the device could be announced in the coming weeks. Sony is yet to confirm an event for the launch of this device, but we don’t think it’s far away.
