A rumor originating from China claims that Samsung will not be unveiling a edge variant of the Galaxy Note edge at IFA this year.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note edge with a curved display on one side at IFA last year. The company was only expected to unveil the Note 4 at the event, but surprised everyone with the launch of the Note Edge. This was followed by the Galaxy S6 edge that features a display that curves on both edges.

It is likely that Samsung will be supplanting the Galaxy Note Edge with the Galaxy S6 edge Plus, which is rumored to feature a 5.5- or 5.7-inch dual-edge display. It seems that Samsung will be unveiling this handset beside the Note 5 at IFA later this year.

The Galaxy Note edge might have been the first smartphone from a major OEM to come with a curved display, but its sales figure were less than stellar. So, it makes sense for Samsung to not continue with the lineup anymore, especially since its curved display actually posed some usability issues.

The rumor also claims that the Galaxy note 5 will come with a 5.89-inch display with a 7.9mm waistline, a 4100mAh battery, Exynos 7422 processor, a new version of S-Pen, wireless charging and more.
