Earlier this year, Display Mate crowned Samsung’s Galaxy S6 for having the best display in a smartphone. Less than six months later, Samsung has managed to push the technology barrier further with the 5.7-inch display on the Galaxy Note 5, which has now taken the crown of having the best display in a smartphone from its smaller sibling.

In its testing, Display Mate found that the Galaxy Note 5 has the “most accurate display” under the ‘Basic’ screen mode they have ever come across in a smartphone or tablet. It further notes that due to the low reflectance and high brightness, the Galaxy Note 5’s display scored the highest points in their contrast rating for high ambient light benchmark.

Impressively, the website found in its testing that the 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display on the Galaxy Note 5 can reach brightness levels of up to 861 nits with Automatic Brightness turned on, which is the brightest that they have ever recorded in a smartphone. The display on the device is also capable of dimming down to only 2 nits without affecting display quality in any way.

Despite coming with such improvements in color accuracy and brightness, the display on the Galaxy Note 5 is up to 21 percent more power efficient than the 5.7-inch Quad HD panel found on the Galaxy Note 4.

The website also tested the dual edge curved display on the Galaxy S6 edge+ and found that it is now capable of offering essentially the same performance as the display on the Galaxy Note 5.
