Samsung had announced that it will relaunch the Galaxy Fold in May this year. It is now one month past the deadline and we finally heard from the Samsung camp. A spokesperson from Samsung has spoken with CNET and suggested that they will come with a new release date which will be announced in the coming weeks.

That being said, it is better for Samsung to take its time, iron out the issues and only then release the device. The initial version was very fragile and the display was damaged easily. First things first, Samsung needs to convince their customers that the $1,980 device will not disintegrate pieces.

Samsung hasn’t given up on the Galaxy Fold, even 45 days after its first foldable phone was planned to go on sale in the US on April 26. A Samsung spokesperson affirmed to CNET in an email, “We will announce timing in the coming weeks.”

The Samsung Galaxy Fold comes equipped with a 4.6-inch hinged display that becomes 7.3-inch when opened. Cover camera is a 10MP unit with an aperture of F2.2. Samsung has baked in a dual front camera setup that consists of the 10MP sensor+ 8MP RGB Depth camera. The triple rear camera setup is made up of a combination of 16MP Ultra Wide Camera, 12MP Wide-angle Camera, and 12MP Telephoto lens.

Other highlights of the Samsung Galaxy Fold camera includes AR Emoji, Video Digital Image Stabilization, 4K UHD recording, and High CRI LED flash. It would be interesting to see how robust the final Samsung Galaxy Fold will be. Mass producing flexible OLED’s is a very difficult and if Samsung pulls this off, other manufacturers will follow suit
