Xiaomi today unveiled the Redmi Note 6 Pro in India, the successor to the massively popular Redmi Note 5 Pro from earlier this year. The Redmi Note 6 Pro is a modest upgrade over its predecessor packing an improved design, a bigger and notched display, and improved cameras at the front and rear.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro has largely the same design as the Redmi Note 5 Pro and improves upon it in a few areas. The Redmi Note 6 Pro is slimmer and features slightly narrower bezels at the front. The front now sports a 6.26-inch notched display with FHD+ resolution.

What’s perhaps the most disappointing about the Redmi Note 6 Pro is its internals. The device has the same internals as the Redmi Note 5 Pro which means we are looking at a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 636 chipset, 4/6GB RAM, up to 64GB of storage, and a hybrid microSD card slot.

Xiaomi is banking on the improved camera setup of the Redmi Note 6 Pro to attract customers. The dual-camera setup at the rear continues to sport a primary 12MP sensor but it now features larger 1.4um pixels with a wider f/1.9 aperture. It is also Dual Pixel Autofocus for improved autofocus performance. This is paired with a secondary 5MP depth sensor featuring 1.12um large pixel and f/2.2 aperture. The improved camera setup allows the Redmi Note 6 Pro to offer AI 2.0 with 6 different bokeh effects.

At the front, there’s a 20MP selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture and 0.9um pixels. This is paired with a 2MP depth sensor packing f/2.2 aperture and 1.75um large pixels.

Other specs of the Redmi Note 6 Pro include a fingerprint sensor, IR blaster, microUSB port, usual bunch of sensors, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi ac, dual-VoLTE support, and a beefy 4,000mAh battery.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. It comes with a revamped user interface and enhanced new camera features.

The base variant with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at Rs 13,999, with the 6GB RAM model coming in at Rs 15,999. The device goes on sale from November 23 on Flipkart and Mi.com.
