Red HTC One Max coming to Taiwan

HTC’s jumbo version of the One launched several weeks ago in a single color variant, silver. Now, thanks to a Taiwanese promotional ad, it’s been “confirmed” that HTC will also sell the One Max in red. Will this red variant be made available in other countries? It’s too soon to tell, but my gut says yes, because people love colors and are tired of white and black. Give it a month or two for a European announcement.

For those of you who don’t remember all the little details about the One Max, it really is just a 5.9 inch version of the 4.7 inch One. There are a few differences, however, that should be pointed out. Starting with the camera, the One has a four megapixel “UltraPixel” camera with optical image stabilization, whereas the One Max uses the same module sans OIS. The One doesn’t have a removable battery or a microSD card slot; the Max has both. The One doesn’t come with a fingerprint scanner, while the One Max does, though everyone who has reviewed the One Max says the fingerprint scanner is totally useless.

So should you consider buying the One Max then? If your favorite thing to do on a device is watch movies and television programs, I can’t think of a better smartphone. Those front facing speakers are amazing, HTC’s displays are always fantastic, and you get a metal body. If, on the other hand, you hate large phones, then don’t even look at the Max. It makes the Note 3 look like a little toy.
