The Paranoid Android team has traditionally always supported only the Nexus devices and left support for non-Nexus devices “legacy” to other developers. This allows the team to focus on bringing new and unique features to its ROM rather than spending time on getting it to work on other devices.

For the first time though, the Paranoid Android team has decided to include direct support for non-Nexus devices from Oppo and OnePlus. The list of devices include the Oppo Find 7, Find 7a, Find 5, N1 and the OnePlus One. (https://kumorisushi.com/)

Both these companies are extremely open towards developers, with the OnePlus One running CyanogenMod — the most popular custom ROM out there — right out of the box. This makes using these devices as a development base and maintaining them relatively hassle free.

Official support from Paranoid Android means OnePlus and Oppo owners will be getting the latest builds of the ROM right when other Nexus devices get it. Usually, the ‘legacy’ devices get these builds a day or two after PA has released their build for Nexus devices. Another benefit is the ability to directly submit a bug report to the PA team, which will help them in making the ROM more stable.

The builds for the OnePlus One and the Oppo devices have already been released by Paranoid Android and can be downloaded from their download center.
