OnePlus One

For a $400 handset, the OnePlus One sports a mightily impressive 13MP F/2.0 camera at its back. While this sounds impressive on paper, it is not yet known how the camera performs in real life.

Today, a member of the OnePlus forums uploaded some pictures shot from a prototype of the OnePlus One that shows off the camera capabilities of the handset in real life.

The user also posted comparison pictures from Nikon’s 3100 DSLR and the Oppo Find 5, which makes it easier to judge how the OnePlus One performed. To my naked eye, the OnePlus One seems to perform quite admirably, even in low-light.

While the DSLR obviously clicked better pictures, the One managed to hold up its own against it which is remarkable for a smartphone camera. Below is the gallery containing all the images for your comparison:

Since this is still the prototype version of the handset, chances are the retail unit will perform slightly better.

The OnePlus One sports Sony’s latest IMX214 camera sensor that boasts a resolution of 13MP and an aperture of F/2.0. To properly fix the blurring on the edges due to the low aperture, the handset will also come with 6 lenses and will make use of Image Stabilization Plus (IS+) to reduce noise and shakiness in photos and videos.

OnePlus is all set to reveal its handset in a couple of days from now on April 23rd.
