OnePlus today announced the OnePlus 7T Pro, the successor to the OnePlus 7 Pro from earlier this year. The company had announced the OnePlus 7T  in India late last month.

While the OnePlus 7T was a major upgrade over the OnePlus 7, the same is not true for the OnePlus 7T Pro. Its a relatively minor update that does not bring anything new to the table. The OnePlus 7T Pro packs largely the same specs as the OnePlus 7 Pro — a 6.67-inch QHD+ 90Hz Fluid AMOLED display covered with 3D Gorilla Glass, 128/256GB of UFS 3.0 storage, in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, a 16MP pop-up selfie camera, and USB-C connectivity.

It even has the same triple-camera setup at the rear which comprises of a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.6 aperture, an 8MP telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom, and a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle shooter with 117-degree FoV. The only difference here is the inclusion of LaserAF for faster autofocus performance. The camera app features a new Macro mode for extreme close up shots. The phone is also capable of recording 960fps slow-mo videos for up to 10 seconds.

The only areas where the OnePlus 7T Pro differs from the OnePlus 7 Pro are in chipset, RAM, and charging speed. The OnePlus 7T Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 855+ chipset which is just an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 855 found inside the OnePlus 7. The base RAM across the board has been increased to 8GB and it tops out at 12GB. Finally, like the OnePlus 7T, the OnePlus 7T Pro comes with Warp Charge 30T which is nearly 23% faster than Warp Charge 30. It is capable of charging the OnePlus 7T Pro from 0-68% in just 30 minutes. The battery capacity on the phone has also seen a minor bump to 4,085mAh from the 4,000mAh found on the OnePlus 7 Pro.

On the software front, the OnePlus 7T Pro runs on OxygenOS that is based on Android 10. OnePlus has managed to win a lot of fans with the amount of features and customisation options that it offers with OxygenOS. For the latest release of OxygenOS, OnePlus has added four new horizon light colors, reorganised the customisation menu, and added the ability to switch between apps while in landscape mode.

OnePlus also announced a McLaren edition of the OnePlus 7T Pro. It comes with 256GB of storage and 12GB RAM, and its the company’s most expensive smartphone to date.

OnePlus has added some new software features to the McLaren edition of the OnePlus 7T Pro to make it stand out from the regular 7T Pro. This includes exclusive icons, themes, animations, and wallpapers along with a minimalist timepiece on the lock screen that’s inspired by McLaren’s dashboard instrumentation.

The OnePlus 7T Pro will retail for Rs 53,999 in India, while the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren edition will cost Rs 58,999. Both phones go on sale in India from October 12th. The OnePlus 7T Pro won’t launch in the United States, though it will be available in Europe.
