Samsung Galaxy Note III to be sold in both LCD and AMOLED variants due to supply issues?

According to a fresh rumor on the Korean website ETNews, Samsung is having issues making enough AMOLED panels for mobile devices. So much so that when the company unveils the Note III in September at IFA in September, they’ll say it’s going to have a different display depending on which market it’s launched. Some markets will get a Note III with an AMOLED display. Others will have to make due with an LCD version.

Which countries get which version? By asking that question you’re making the assumption that this rumor is indeed true. For all we know this could be total BS. Has Samsung done something like this in the past? Not to my knowledge, but a similar thing did happen back in 2011 when HTC launched the Desire. That phone initially used an AMOLED display, but then Samsung stopped selling panels to HTC, so they had to switch to LCD.

Again, for all I know this could be total BS, and I’m hoping it is, because it’s going to start a religious war between those who claim AMOLED is far superior to LCD and those who make fun of AMOLED displays because they don’t display accurate colors.
