It’s been talked about for a very long time, since after the original Nike+ FuelBand launched several years ago, but up until today’s been missing from the Android platform as a whole. That has officially changed today, as Nike released their Nike+ FuelBand app into the Google Play Store. Unfortunately, there are caveats to the release.

It may have been talked about since the original FuelBand’s release, but that doesn’t necessarily mean tha the new app will support the wearable. In fact, Nike points out in the application’s description that the FuelBand 1.0 is not supported, and if you read the reviews for the app, plenty of people are unhappy with that particular decision. As it stands, the new app only supports the latest FuelBand release, the Nike+ FuelBand SE, and you’ll need an Android-based device running Android 4.3 or later.

Moreover, the app has been optimized for only a handful of devices. Those include:

    Samsung Galaxy S5
    Samsung Galaxy S 4
    Samsung Galaxy S III
    LG Nexus 5
    HTC One
    Motorola Moto X

If you can work with those small details, then the Nike+ FuelBand app is definitely worth the wait for anyone that’s been anticipating its launch. You’ll be able to compete with friends to climb the leaderboard, save your stats directly to your Nike profile, and use Nike+ Sessions to partake in specific activities. With Move Reminders the wearable will help you “Win the Hour,” so you don’t find yourself sitting around too much.

The application is available now, and it’s free.
