At the beginning of this month, Android 4.2.2 and Sense 5 based custom ROMs started popping up for the HTC One, thanks to a leaked RUU. Today, another Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean based RUU has leaked for the One carrying the version number 2.19.401.1.

The leaked RUU is not the final update that will be available to all One users. HTC is still working on the Android 4.2.2 firmware for the handset, and is taking its own sweet time. Compared to previous leak, this leaked RUU only contains some updated system files and a new kernel. Thanks to this, the new RUU feels much smoother and brings about a nice jump in performance as well.

For the unknown, the previous RUU brought an enhanced BlinkFeed with Instagram integration, minor usability updates, Quick Settings, Day dream and more.

Some people over at XDA are reporting slightly improved camera performance in low-light, but this might just be a placebo effect. Other changes include better thermal management, thanks to which the phone is running much cooler under load than before.

As a One owner, I am pretty disappointed that HTC has not yet managed to roll out the Android 4.2.2 update for the handset. On the flip side, I am glad that the company is working on improving the performance of the device further. Hopefully, HTC will manage to release the official Android 4.2.2 update for the One sometime by early next month.
