It looks like LG is all set to soon launch a Snapdragon 805 variant of the G3, dubbed the G3 Prime, even though the former is yet to go on sale in most of the major markets of the world.

Rumors and leaks about a Snapdragon 805 variant of the G3 started popping up back in May itself, and today, the handset has received the neccessary certification from the Bluetooth SIG before it can go on sale.

According to the certification documents, the Snapdragon 805 powered handset from LG carries the model number F460S, which matches perfectly with what we have heard earlier.

If you are planning on buying an LG G3, don’t fret about this upcoming ‘Prime’ variant of the handset. Chances are LG would only be releasing the Snapdragon 805 powered variant of the G3 in its home market (Korea) to take advantage of the faster (225Mbps) download speed offered by the operators there.

Samsung pulled a similar move recently with the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, which sports a Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM. While the G3 would have benefited with a faster processor and GPU, the Snapdragon 801 chipset inside it is no slouch either and is more than capable of handling all those pixels on its Quad HD display.
