Today, Lenovo India unveiled its Z1 smartphone which sells under the online only umbrella group Zuk. Though marketed as Zuk Z1 in the Chinese market since its launch in September 2015, the phone is rebranded as Lenovo Z1 – powered by Zuk for the Indian sub-continent. Despite the name change, both devices have the exact same specs.
The sale of the phone starts on 19th May and it retails for Rs. 13,499 (USD 200), but registration is now open for those keen on purchasing the device.
The Lenovo Z1 runs Cyanogen OS 12.1 based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop right out of the box. The phone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB RAM, a 13MP camera and a HD screen, all of which are standard for mid-range devices. What is not standard is 64GB of onboard storage, which is a rarity even among high-end Android flagships. (https://www.ameriseed.net/) The battery for the Lenovo Z1 is an impressive 4100mAh, which should ensure that the handset lasts through a day of heavy usage.
Additionally, the Z1 has dual-SIM capabilities, a fingerprint reader that works with wet fingers and it supports fast charging via its USB Type-C charging port. Additionally, Lenovo states that their battery technology allows the phone to run while charging such that the power is re-routed to the phone instead of the battery. This prevents the battery from loosing charge capacity over time and also prevents over-charging the device.
From the price point and the offered hardware, the Z1 is an excellent device that gives you a bang for your buck.
