Another day, another bucket of Galaxy S5 rumors to look over. This latest bucket comes from the folks at PhoneArena. According to a tipster they spoke with, the QHD screen resolution (2560 x 1440) has all but been confirmed, though nothing is said about actual screen size. The camera module, which we all thought would be a Samsung sourced 16 megapixel sensor, will instead be a 20 megapixel shooter. Sadly, no optical image stabilization. As for the battery, it’ll come in 2,900 mAh, not the previously mentioned 4,000 mAh.

When it comes to the body, it’ll be all plastic. Again. Said body will have a “different design language”, which could mean anything really. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but just about every product Samsung has unveiled for the past three months or so has come with same fake leather back as the Note 3. I’m not implying Samsung will put fake leather on the Galaxy S5, but you should be prepared if it does happen.

And finally, the iris scanner is supposedly confirmed. This spec is the one I have the least confidence with. Let’s assume for a second that Samsung has indeed sourced the right components, will they be so horrifically defective that people will never bother using the feature? HTC’s One Max comes to mind. To this day, no one understands why HTC decided to put such an incredibly inaccurate fingerprint scanner on that phone. With a success rate of less than 50%, it makes the phone look bad.

But now I’m getting ahead of myself, these are just rumors.

March can’t come fast enough.
