Huawei had said it would be unveiling its next flagship smartphones on October 16, and, sure enough, at a huge event in London the company did just that.

The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are now official. Both handsets are generally the same across the board, with only a few key differences separating them, but these are definitely high-end handsets that are packed to the brim with specs and features for future owners. So let’s get right into it.

First up, the Huawei Mate 20 (pictured above). It features a 6.53-inch “DewDrop Display”, which means the notch at the top of the screen has that very small footprint, with only enough room to facilitate the single front-facing camera. It’s an LCD panel with a resolution of 2244×1080, and it has an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. There is a Kirin 980 processor under the hood, with variants that offer either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, with both offering 128GB of built-in storage.

There are three cameras on the back: A 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with an f/1.8 aperture; a 16MP ultra-wide-angle shooter with an f/2.2 aperture; and an 8MP 2x telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture. The battery measures in at 4000mAh, and the handset is running Android 9 Pie out of the box underneath Huawei’s proprietary EMUI skin.

Next, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. This has a 6.39-inch OLED FullView Display, with a resolution of 3120×1440 and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It offers the same Kirin 980 processor, the same 128GB of built-in storage, and Android 9 Pie available right from the start under Huawei’s EMUI skin. It offers 6GB of RAM, a 4200mAh battery, and three cameras on the back. the primary shooter is a 40MP wide-angle offering, with an f/1.8 aperture. The 20-megapixel wide-angle lens has an f/2.2 aperture, while the 8MP 3x telephoto lens has an f/2.4 aperture.

The Mate 20 Pro has some standout differentiating features, too, including 3D Face Unlock, and a fingerprint reader in the display.

Huawei’s Mate 20 Pro goes on sale beginning today, priced at €899. The Mate 20 also goes on sale today, priced at €799 for the 4GB variant, and €849 for the 6GB option.
