One of the more common rumors through the years is that HTC is making another Nexus. This year the Rumor Mill suggested HTC was making two!

But, if a Huawei executive is to be believed, that doesn’t look like it’s going to be the case. Charlene Munilall is the General Manager of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group in South Africa, and dropped a bit of a bombshell while speaking in an interview with Dearborn, saying, almost nonchalantly, that Huawei is making a Nexus device again this year. And, based on the comment, it sounds like it’s a smartphone:

“We’re doing the Nexus again this year, by the way.”

Huawei made the Nexus 6P last year, and it was generally well-received, so it’s perhaps not all that surprising that Google is tapping the company to make this year’s device.
