It looks like HTC is all set to unveil a new variant of its flagship handset — the HTC One M8 — with a 13MP rear camera and an accompanying depth sensor for its Duo Camera effects.

The leak comes courtesy of two different sources, @LlabTooFeR and @upleaks, who suggest that the handset known internally as the ‘M8_EYE.’

The handset will be running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Sense 6.0 onboard and is slated to be unveiled sometime in October. @upleaks, however, also states that the M8_Eye will only be coming to Mainland China and India.

HTC already uses a traditional 13MP sensor along with a secondary depth sensor on its latest generation of Butterfly handsets — which are mainly sold in Asian markets. It is very likely that the ‘M8_EYE’ is another such handset from the Taiwanese OEM  for the Asian market with a premium fit and finish.
