Google officially announced Android 8.0 Oreo just a few days ago. Naturally, the updates will first make their way to the Pixel and Nexus smartphones. Many were wondering as to which OEM will be the first to offer the update. Well, it seems like HTC will be the first, as the company has just announced that the HTC U11, U Ultra, and the HTC 10 will get the update shortly.

Unfortunately, the company has failed to offer a timeline for the update, so it’s anybody’s guess as to when the update will be sent out to smartphones around the world. However, the fact that the company is acknowledging its arrival is very good news for device owners. Although HTC is the first to announce plans, it’s just as likely that another manufacturer will beat the company to the punch.

Last year, we saw LG becoming the first manufacturer after Google to offer Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with the LG V20. If we were to guess, HTC could start the rollout within the next couple of months. However, given the uncertainty surrounding mobile manufacturers, it’s impossible to predict anything. HTC is currently the only manufacturer to announce the Android 8.0 update plans. We expect other companies like Samsung, LG, Sony etc to join the list soon.
