HTC met with modest success with the One this year. Even though the handset did not sell in millions as HTC would have hoped for, it was praised unanimously by almost every reviewer out there. Even after 6 months of its launch, the One is regarded as one of the best handsets to be released this year.

The One came with Sense 5.0, which had a complete UI makeover, and adhered to the new Holo/flat look introduced by Google in Android 4.0 . HTC polished things further with the recently released Sense 5.5 update for the One. With all major releases for the year already done, HTC is hard at work on the One’s successor, currently codenamed M8.

While information about M8 is scarce, @evleaks has leaked that the handset will be shipping with Sense 6.0. His tweet does not provide any other information including the new features or enhancements that the new version of Sense will include. This piece of news should be a given, considering HTC has always introduced a new version of Sense with its flagship phones ever year.

Anyways, quite a few months are still left for HTC to unveil the One’s successor so we should see quite a fair bit of leaks as the device nears production.
