Recently, HTC started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update with Sense 5 for the One X+, at least in Taiwan. Now, it is the turn of the One X to taste Sense 5 with Jelly Bean. However, this update comes from a custom ROM that is based on a leaked Android 4.2.2/Sense 5 firmware for the One X.

The leaked firmware contains all the goodies that was seen on the One X+ update, including Sense 5.0 with BlinkFeed, a new App drawer, slightly updated UI, improved performance and stability and more. Below is a small change-log from the XDA thread -:

  • New Base 4.18.401.1
  • Android 4.2.2
  • HTC Sense 5.0
  • HTC BlinkFeed
  • New Radio 5.1204.167.31H
  • Updated Kernel
  • Improved UI Experience
  • Improved Beats Audio
  • Improved Music Experience
  • AE/AF Lock
  • Stock HTC %battery
  • Stock HTC EQS
  • Lock-screen widgets
  • Audio improvements
  • Camera improvement
  • Updated OEM Apps

Since the custom ROM is based on a new base with new kernel and drivers, the official OTA should not be far away as well. However, if you are too impatient for the update, you can always flash the above custom ROM to enjoy the new version of Sense on your One X. The above ROM is only for the Tegra 3 variant of the One X though, and not the dual-core Qualcomm S4 Krait variant that was sold in the United States and few other regions with LTE support.
