HTC has started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 update for the One X+ owners in Taiwan and other surrounding regions. Apart from all the Android 4.2.2 goodies, the update also brings Sense 5 as seen on the One with only a few missing features to the One X+.

Perhaps the first thing One X+ owners are going to notice post the 4.2.2 update is the improvement in speed and stability of the device. The new version of Sense is much lighter and streamlined than Sense 4+, which helps in improving overall performance and stability.  The new Sense launcher with BlinkFeed is also a refreshing change from the typical widget and icon based home screens.

Some of the goodies that the Android 4.2.2 update brought to the One are also present in the One X+ update including battery percentage in status bar, Quick Settings toggles, DayDream, new Recents app style as seen on the One, enhanced camera app with improved camera performance and Sleep mode. HTC has also provided an option to replace 3-dot menu button with a long-press on the Recents app capacitive button. However, HTC has not included the Zoe feature as seen on the One because of hardware limitations.

At the moment the update is only available to One X+ handsets in Taiwan. A wider staged roll-out of the OTA update should happen sometime over the next 30 days. For once, it is nice to see HTC updating its previous generation flagship device to a new version of Android before Samsung.
