HTC One Max spotted on Taiwan subway, still has that delightful six month old black bar bug

A woman using the unannounced HTC One Max was spotted on what appears to be a subway car in Taiwan. It could be Taipei’s subway or Kaohsiung’s subway, I’m not really sure since they both look very similar. Anyway, back to the device, the best way to describe it to say it’s a 5.9 inch One. That’s pretty much it. There are some new things, sure, like the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor under the camera module on the back of the device, and a slightly slower Snapdragon S4 Pro instead of a Snapdragon 600, but to most people, it’s a jumbo One.

When will this phone become official? On October 15th at a press event scheduled to take place in China. When will it ship to your respective country? Photos of the Verizon variant have already leaked, so I’d expect an American announcement rather soon. As for Europe, probably by the end of the year. Can’t imagine HTC thinks they’ll sell a ton of these outside of Asia, however, seeing as how ultra big phones are still seen as a scary thing in Western markets.

Should you buy the One Max instead of something like the Galaxy Note 3? If all you value is multimedia consumption, then the One Max will probably be better since it has front facing speakers and a beautiful LCD display. If, on the other hand, you’re a productivity nut, and want the world’s most powerful Android phone, then it’s Note 3 all the way.
