Desire 816

The HTC Desire 816 has been officially launched by HTC just a few moments ago. The smartphone has been making its way to the rumor mill on several occasions, so the launch hasn’t come as a surprise to us. The smartphone will make its way to global markets as well as China in the coming months with a pretty solid specs sheet. Read on for more.

The HTC Desire 816’s specifications look like this:

  • 5.5 inch 720p display.
  • A quad core 1.6 GHz Snapdragon 400 chipset.
  • 13 megapixel f/2.2 camera sensor on the back.
  • 5 megapixel front facing shooter.
  • 1.5GB of RAM.
  • 8GB of storage with a microSD card slot.
  • Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC Sense 6.0 UI.
  • Dual stereo speakers on the front – HTC BoomSound.

The Desire 816 will reach China first in March, followed by other global markets in April. There’s no word on the pricing just yet. HTC is touting this as a decent midrange offering with a very capable hardware, so obviously the pricing will be aggressive. The smartphone will launch in four colors – black, green, white, and red. HTC’s MWC event was expected to be low key as all the focus has been shifted to its crucial March 25 event, where the ‘All New HTC One‘ is expected to surface. But until then, we will have to manage with the Desire 816.
