The Chinese handset vendor Huawei, who I haven’t written about in a while simply because they haven’t done anything too exciting recently, is going to hold an event in London on the 18th of June. The title of the invitation reads “BEAUTY. Worth waiting for.” Why did they capitalize the word beauty? Probably because they think their next phone is going to be the best thing to ever come out of their design teams.

So what’s this new phone going to look like? The guys at Engadget have a rough idea. There’s a phone called the Huwaei P6-U06 that’s been slowly leaking out during the past few weeks. It’s allegedly just 6.2 mm thin, and the whole thing looks like it’s made out of metal. The screen is supposed to measure 4.7 inches diagonal and push 1280 x 720 pixels. More importantly, the front of the device doesn’t have any front facing buttons, so when it’s off, it’s just solid black.

Now I’m hoping this thing gets sold outside of China, because I’ll be honest with you, Huawei is right, this thing looks gorgeous. Despite the photos being a little blurry and off angle, the phone still looks like an amazing piece of kit. I’d say it’s part iPhone 4, part Nokia N9, and part Sony Xperia Z.

Again, none of that matters if this thing doesn’t make it outside China. Crossing my fingers it does.
