Google has gone ahead and released the Google Now Launcher (GEL) on the Play Store for all Nexus and Google Play edition devices. Up until now, the launcher was only available exclusively to the Nexus 5.

It was rumored since eons that Google plans on releasing the Google Experience Launcher on the Play Store for all Android devices. Sadly, the second part of the rumor did not turn out to be correct as right now, the launcher is only available to all the Nexus and Google Play edition devices running Android 4.4 KitKat. This includes the Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and the Google Play edition of Galaxy S4 and HTC One.

The Google Experience Launcher provides users with quick access to Google Now by simply swiping to the right from their main home screen. It also allows users to have unlimited home screens, unlike the previous version which was limited to only five. Surprisingly, the Play Store version of GEL also brings the ‘Ok, Google’ feature to all the Nexus and GPe devices.

Since the launcher is now released on the Play Store, Google can add new features and update it frequently without pushing out a whole new OS update. Hopefully, the company will also make the beautiful launcher available to other Android devices as well.
