Gallery Go

Google today announced Gallery Go, a new photo gallery app that brings packs some of the features of Google Photos but works offline. As the name suggests though, Gallery Go has been primarily designed for low-end Android devices.

Weighing in at 10MB, the app has been designed to work entirely offline. It has been developed as a part of Google for Nigeria program. While we might have access to high-speed Wi-Fi and 4G everywhere, the reality is very different in other parts of the world. Due to this, not everyone has the liberty to use Google Photos for organising their photo library which is why Google is releasing Gallery Go.

Similar to Google Photos, Gallery Go will automatically organize your photos based on the people and objects. For example, the app will automatically categorize your selfies so you can easily search through them. This is entirely done offline and does not require an active data connection to work.

The app is also compatible with SD cards and allows one to create folders for better organization. Despite its lightweight nature, Gallery Go comes with a built-in photo editor as well which includes the auto enhance tool from Google Photos. You also get some manual editing tools along with a bunch of filters.

Gallery Go is available worldwide but Google notes that the photo organization feature by people might not be available in all countries.
